About
Sushimatic is kind of on a weird hiatus at the moment as we all try and get our lives back on track following the epic Nova saga. And thus this about page is about two thirds out of date…
Sushimatic was mostly assembled from old bits that were lying on the side of the information super highway by Jackson Boyle, then some mighty fine graphics were put upon the resulting structure by the genius Crushmonkey, who is also available for graphics design work, should you be so inclined.Sushimatic as a concept - a team blog about nifty (& from time to time, not so nifty) things in Japan with some cool stuff we’d like to see on a website - was JB’s idea. (The name, however, wasn’t - my first idea, JapanDa, was already taken so I got Crushmonkey & Rae to help out.) My site’s not been very exciting for quite some time now, and I figured it was time for something a little different. Something a little less JB centric, and a bit more accessible and fun. Here it is!Enjoy….
Who’s behind Sushimatic?
Glad you asked, because you know, that’s frightfully important when perusing one of these pages, isn’t it?

There’s the aforementioned crushmonkey (His own blog is here.)
In his own words:
I’ve been here now close to three years, and still find things that are interesting or new. I have Sega Dreamcast Maracas in my cupboard. If I tried, I could hit a Shinkansen with a tennis ball from my balcony.
Then there’s Jackson Boyle
(His blog is here.)
In his own words:
I’ve lived in Japan longer than is healthy, and know lots of Japanese - mostly for things like “two swords technique” or “foreigners go home”. I’m not very good at buying stamps. You can find me in the suburbs of Yokohama, muttering about my knees & how there are too many hills near my house.
And let’s not forget the sultry songstress, Rae.
Thanks for the intro boys, and please try the veal. I have a blog, I rarely write in it, rather I post more on Mr. Boyle’s and Cmonkey’s… and will probably continue. As for me I’m on the four year mark as well and am very well aquainted with the horrors of Japanese hairstyles. I’m on the sushimatic style council, play marathon Dragon Quest, and do a mad Sinead at Karaoke.
