Osouji required

Osouji required, originally uploaded by Jackson Boyle.

Well I hope you all got your big cleaning over and done with - in Japan, spring cleaning takes place in winter, and is fondly known as osouji - BIG cleaning.

Peter Galante remarked in his Japanese Pod 101 podcast on the topic, that in America where he’s from, a big cleanout usually involves moving everything to the basement or the garage.

This is my general modus operandi too, and it was nice to find that someone in Kyoto has taken the whole thing one step further and put all their junk on display.

from all of us at sushimatic, have a Happy New Year, be it in a tidy or otherwise abode!

Catch yous on the flipside.
